April 22, 2022 Member Meeting – Artist Discussion with Rafael Blanco

Rafael Blanco is a contemporary artist fascinated with identity, human expression, and diversity & inclusion as a main focus in his work. Trained as a classical studio painter, Blanco has been, since 2014, transitioning to public art, especially to large scale murals.

Rafael Blanco collaborated with fellow Elmhurst University art faculty member Andrew Sobol to transform a 200-foot-long, 32-foot-high exterior brick wall into a vibrant mural called “Be Bold. Be Elmhurst.” It is located on the north wall of R.A. Faganel Hall, at Park and Prospect avenues (facing the railroad tracks) in Elmhurst.
